During this period I lived between the Saramacan population. I have made portraits with chalk: Conte on polyester paper.
I tried to establis the authenticity of the Saramacan inhabitants of Botopasi.
In addition, I researched an authentic piece of clothing: the Angisa.
These are embroidered and/or embossed cloths with texts and motifs that women wear almost daily above their pangi, a wrap skirt.
The texts are carried on the back and often concern the love and/or things that are usually not discussed openly.
They have a communicative effect, and by carrying them, villagers can be informed of certain things that the bearer wants to have in public.
Like problems with a man.
They often choose existing texts, but they can also embroider their own texts.
