The project "Licht over de Dommel" was initiated by Diederendirrix Architects, [Z]OO Productions, Philips Lighting and TU Eindhoven. Twenty designers, artists and students of industrial design at the TU have made proposals for the bridge over the Dommel. Weekly brainstorming sessions resulted in a fascinating interaction and development in the discussed designs, the result is recorded in a film and a catalog.
The result of my contribution to the project "Licht over de Dommel" has led to this design. The design consist of 6 monumental statues on the railing of the bridge over the Dommel river.
The 6 muzes have a link with the contemporary values in Eindhoven: Culture, Design, Sports, Innovation, Technology and Light. There is also a link to the 6 districts of Eindhoven and to 6 old statues above the Vestdijktunnel in Eindhoven.
